ANNUAL IOWA SCI HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLASTIC CLAY TARGET PROGRAM GRANT

An Educational and Recruitment Project Sponsored by the Iowa Chapter, SCI

THE VISION

To increase greater hunter participation in Iowa via the implementation of R3 Strategies.  What better way than to help start-up and fund new Scholastic Clay Target Programs (SCTP) and other shooting sports programs for high school and junior high schools age kids throughout Iowa. Once the kids pass their hunters ed and are trained in the proficient use and safety of firearms, part of the process of becoming a hunter is already accomplished.

THE METHOD

A grant application form was put together with the purpose to help provide the initial start-up and organizational funds for Iowa high school and junior high school age SCTP and other shooting sports teams to be formed, survive and grow.  Due to the limited amount of funds available, the initial maximum annual grant to anyone program was set by the Iowa SCI Board at $1,000.00, and further limited to programs that have been in existence for four (4) years or less.  We are hopeful that as more funds become available that we can broaden the amount and extent of this Grant Program.  See Forms and Downloads for this Grant program application.

THE GRANTS

SCTP is the largest and fastest-growing clay target program in the United States.  In 2021 Iowa alone had approximately 4000 Iowa high school and junior high school age kids participate in the Iowa High School Trap Championship in Cedar Falls Iowa!   2021 was only our second full year with this program, and to date, the Iowa Chapter of SCI has funded 20 Grants totaling just under $20,000.00.
