ANNUAL GENERAL GRANT PROGRAM

Funding Educational, Civic, Conservation, Humanitarian and Recruitment
Projects throughout Iowa, All Sponsored by the Iowa Chapter, SCI

THE VISION

As the Iowa Chapter’s fundraising ability developed and grew, the Board wanted to fund multiple projects within Iowa annually to satisfy our Mission Statement and the many goals set forth thereunder.  To that end, an annual General Grant Program was put together to solicit grant applications throughout Iowa to fulfill our Mission.

THE METHOD

An Iowa SCI Grant Application Form and PROCESS was created with specific rules and guidelines for the applicants to follow in submitting their annual grant request. The process includes an Evaluation Criteria based upon a 100 point scale for the Iowa Board to use to score each application, with the top-ranking projects receiving the funding which is available for the Program annually.  Grant availability and  Application Forms have been publicized within the Iowa conservation community.  See Forms and Downloads for this Grant Application Form.

THE GRANTS

In our second Grant year, 2020/2021, we received over $360,000.00 of grant requests throughout Iowa. Unfortunately due to the Covid, we were only able to fund a fraction of those requests, but we are hopeful in our third year of the program we will be able to fund a much larger dollars amount. Applications ranged from Iowa archery programs to requests by Iowa Nature centers to help educate the public in various hunting and conservation programs and practices within Iowa, and everything in between.

SCI Iowa received 47 grant applications for 2022/2023 with a total ask of $423,969.00.  SCI Iowa is in the process of evaluating and funding a portion of these grants.
